Summary

FEAR are looking for two more digital artists to join our existing Malaysian team on several key game projects.

Working remotely, you will become part of a tight knit team of illustrators working in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to deliver exceptional digital designs for characters, effects, and more for both realistic and animated horror games.

There will also be extending work for various other games not so dark of heart, so you can rest assured you will be challenged and entertained working on a variety of games.

Required Skills

Hard Skills (Technical Skills):

  • 2D Art & Concept Design – Expertise in creating high-quality 2D art, including character designs, environments, and props (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Concept Art for 3D – Ability to create detailed concept art for 3D games, including orthographic views, turnarounds, and color explorations for 3D artists to model from.
  • Digital Painting – Proficiency in digital painting techniques for stylized and realistic game artwork.
  • UI/UX Design for 2D Games – Experience designing in-game interfaces, menus, and HUD elements for 2D games.
  • Vector Art – Knowledge of creating scalable vector graphics for 2D games, using tools like Adobe Illustrator or Affinity Designer.
  • Frame by Frame Effects - Blood splatter, fire, electricity, water, smoke plus more
  • Texture and Surface Design (2D) – Ability to create hand-painted or stylized textures for 2D assets in games.
  • Lighting & Shading in 2D – Understanding how to use light and shadow in 2D art to create depth and mood.
  • Color Theory & Composition – Strong grasp of color palettes, contrast, and visual composition for appealing and functional game art.
  • Storyboarding – Ability to create storyboards for cutscenes or gameplay sequences, conveying mood and action.
  • Sketching & Iteration – Fast, iterative sketching to explore ideas and refine visual concepts before finalizing designs.

Soft Skills:

  • Creativity & Artistic Vision – Ability to create original concepts that fit the game’s theme and narrative.
  • Attention to Detail – Ensuring that all concept art is clear and detailed for use by 3D modelers and other team members.
  • Collaboration & Communication – Strong skills in collaborating with 3D artists, game designers, and developers to ensure the artwork aligns with the overall game vision.
  • Adaptability – Willingness to adjust designs based on feedback or technical constraints.
  • Problem-Solving – Ability to resolve visual or artistic challenges and improve designs based on team input.
  • Time Management – Effectively managing time to meet deadlines and balance multiple projects.
  • Feedback Receptiveness – Openness to critiques and a readiness to improve artwork based on feedback.
  • Storytelling Ability – Conveying story and character through visual design, enhancing the game’s narrative.

Pay and Conditions

12-month contract pending a 2-month trial period

Between 50,000 to 80,000 MYD per Year.
